Harvey Jeffries has been a member of the Environmental Sciences
and Engineering faculty since 1971. Harvey is a gas-phase
atmospheric chemist specializing in volitile organic compound
photo-oxidation with oxides of nitrogen to produce ozone (ie,
"smog"). In addition, Harvey is a mathematical modeler, creating
numerical simulation models of photochemistry that become
components of large scale Eulerian models incorporating
meteorological and emissions sub-models. Harvey has been active
in using these models to plan public policy for air pollution
control. His work also includes research on the effectiveness of
alternative fuels to reduce ozone and the atmospheric chemistry
leading to global change.
Harvey's office is in Rosenau Hall on the first floor at the end of the north wing in Room 120. Harvey also has a home office where he goes to write and program. (Need a map to the house?)

Cleo came to live at Harvey's house when she was
given to Alice (Harvey's wife) by Kelly (Harvey's only
daughter). Kelly got Cleo as a gift from an admirer her
third year at college. Cleo liked Harvey's yard better than
Kelly's apartment. Cleo has a "hysteric personnality
adaptation," is totally spoiled, and loves Alice. Students
that come to Harvey's house are happily greeted by Cleo.
