Michael Gery's Virtual Lab
This page is a link to Mike's Labs in Boston MA. Mike is linked to
Harvey's labs via telephone, fax, CompuServe, and personal visits.
Mike Gery was a Ph.D. student in ESE from 1982 to 1986 and Don Fox was his
major advisor. Harvey was a member of Mike's Committee and, along with
Rich Kamens, they worked together on several Outdoor Chamber Research
Programs, most notablly:
- The nighttime chemistry of ozone and isoprene.
Kamens, R.M, M.W. Gery, H.E. Jeffries, M. Jackson, E.I.
Cole,"Ozone-Isoprene Reactions: Product Formation and Aerosol Potential,"
Int. J. Chemical Kinetics, 14, 955-975, 1982.
- The hydroxy radical attack on substituted benzenes, toluene,
xylenes.
Gery, M.W., D.L. Fox, H.E. Jeffries, L. Stockberger, W.S. Weathers,
"A Continuous Stirred Tank Reactor Investigation of the Gas Phase Reaction
Of Hydroxyl Radicals and Toluene, Int. J. Chemical Kinetics, 17, 931--955,
1985.
Mike demonstrated a talent for mathematical simulation modeling of chamber
observations using software Harvey had developed on EPA projects.
When he graduated, he accepted a position at Systems Applications
Incorporated in San Rafel, CA with Gery Z. Whitten and James Killus.
